1997 TOYOTA Hiace Hi-TOP 4WD Camper Van
This HiAce camper is built on the KZH138 chassis, with Toyota’s 1KZ model 3.0 liter turbo diesel engine, automatic transmission, and full-time 4wd drivetrain. It clocks a low 60,273 miles, which is really only getting started for Toyota's 1KZ, known to exceed 800,000 miles before a rebuild is required.
Hiace was chosen as the platform for the build as its compact size and 4wd lend itself to adventures down the road less traveled.
This Hiace is the longest and tallest of its generation, and was converted into a camper by VANTECH in Japan.
The camper build has a cozy feel. As shown in the photos, the camper sleeps 4, with the lower seats converting into a bed, and the upper bunk for 2, which swings up and out of the way with a purpose-built mechanism.
