Why Revcon is Unique

Front-Wheel Drive: Eliminated the long driveshaft/rear differential, lowering the floor and center of gravity for car-like handling. Aluminum Monocoque Construction: Lightweight, rigid, and durable like an Airstream. Aerodynamics: Streamlined “slant-nose” design for efficiency and style. Luxury Interior: Teak wood and high-end fabrics, avoiding cheap plastics common in other 80s RVs. Bogey Rear Suspension: Tandem rear wheels for stability.

Historical Highlights

Prince 31 was part of Revcon’s “Royal” model hierarchy (King, Queen, Prince). By 1983, Revcon had shifted to the Chevy 454 Big Block with a modified Turbo-Hydramatic 400 transmission. Often called the “Father of the GMC Motorhome”, Revcon preceded GMC’s FWD design and remained a premium choice after GMC ceased production in 1978. 12 Revcons were even ordered by the DoD in the early 80s, some customized as mobile command centers. Production of original FWD Revcons ended by 1990; the 1983 Prince 31 represents the peak of Revcon’s low-profile luxury vision.
