If you have been waiting for a "perfect" original vintage Airstream that is not a project or a money draining remodel, here it is. This Airstream is a rare, mint, one-of-a-kind 1957 Custom Model, purchased by the original owners from the Airstream Factory in Norwalk, California.

It has been featured at events and photo shoots due its historic value and showstopping looks. It was featured in Sunset Magazine and was awarded best All-Original Trailer in 2016 at Mid-Century Modern Week in Palm Springs. It has been stored indoors and under covered storage 100% of the time and has been professionally polished to a mirror finish a few times during its show life. It is ready for shows or to simply enjoy. Available for pick up in Bryan/College Station, Texas.

An actual "Barn Find," this trailer sat unused and stored in a barn in Missouri for almost 50 years. In 2013, it was purchased out of the estate as the second owners. With only the curtains and vinyl flooring requiring replacement, the interior of the trailer is otherwise unrestored and in its original condition. And - very important for most people - the mattresses were changed to new mattresses and were custom made to fold out from two twin bed into one giant KING SIZE BED! Airstreams from the 1950s have very desirable qualities: Wood interiors, porcelain sinks, a porcelain toilet, metal hardware, and custom made furniture. Later models of Airstreams started creating molded plastic interiors, which crack and yellow. With classic mid-century modern lines, atomic light fixtures and hardware, the trailer is a true time-capsule - even the original kitchen clock It has been carefully and professionally restored or maintained and every detail of the trailer is in phenomenal working condition except the lock, and ready for comfortable camping and traveling on the day you bring it home. No part of the trailer has been altered, torn out or ruined. The original wood cabinetry is in place. The body is straight and the skin is great...There are very few minor dents or scratches truly stunning condition for its age. This trailer is CAMP READY and it was factory designed especially for easy, safe towing and extended trips. It weights 3170 lbs., and the rare dual axle is an important safety feature and makes for smother and easier towing. The exterior plug has been re-wired and updated, so it can plug into any regular campground outlet. It also has an adaptor so that you can plug it in at home with an extension cord. It has a super desirable floor plan with shower, tub, large kitchen and lots of closet space. Again, the two twins slide out and fold down into a huge (larger than a king) bed that easily sleeps two adults and two children. The original click-clack sofa folds out to a second bed, and sleeps 2. Because it was designed for long journeys it and has two large propane tanks; an upgraded extra large fridge; and a lot of storage including two spacious full-length closets, one in the kitchen and one in the bathroom.

The locking mechanism to the door is not latching and I have had trouble finding that part or someone to work on that where I live. But otherwise this Airsteam is just simply a pleasure to look at and use.

I originally had this polished to mirror finish which was simply stunning. But it could use that again. It takes a special service to do that really well.

This is not your typical auction of an airstream. This is an original not just vintage and has won awards for being the most original. Kept in California/Texas and used in Gap/Old Navy commercials

Its 2018 appraisal was done by the foremost California Appraiser and Competition Judge on Airstreams: Polk Associates, LLC 802 El Toro Rd Ojai, California 93023 in January 2018. At that time it was appraised for: Value $46,500

If I were to guess I would say it worth closer to $67,000 + today. Remember you are bidding on an original - not a renovated or restored unit. Restored units typically go for much less than well kept originals.
