Small, well built, unique travel trailer I made by hand in the summer of 2025. The trailer is older than that, I believe from 2021.
She is completely insulated, solid is a rock, but built as light as possible. Deciding is t11, and 2x3s were used for most of the wall framework. 2x4s were used around the door, for part of the ceiling, much of the floor, and the corners. Multiple 45 angle wooden bracing members were used for extra support.
The interior is a nicely sanded pine with cedar trim at all the joints for added bug protection.
Standard 15/32 OSB was used under the metal roof. Extra heavy and thick caulking was used to impregnate all joints. The two side windows open but the front window is fixed. All of them, custom-made with a single pane. The side windows open inward and can be held up to the ceiling with latches I installed.
Higher quality Sherwin-Williams paint was used on the bench and emerald, their best product, was used on the floor.
She is easy to pull and the trailer is very well aligned.
I overbuilt everything. The base is a solid 2x4 and 2x6 frame screwed together with deck screws. I did not use nails anywhere. On top of the frame but under the plywood subfloor is waterproofing film. All the exterior walls are wrapped in tyvek and on top of the OSB at the roof, is more thick plastic film.
I thought I might travel the country with her and use her as a nice place to sleep, cook, enjoy my electronics hobby and just relax and stretch out more than I possibly could in my car!
Plans changed though, and I'm heading overseas and selling what I have lovingly come to call, the Tail Gator".
Took me a month and a half of full-time work and almost $4,000 to build, so you would be getting a phenomenal deal if you buy her.You can go through the auction or buy her outright and immediately for $2,000. The trailer alone was $1,100 when I bought it 5 years ago.I have the title to the trailer in hand but I never registered it. It was very seldom used and is in great condition with all the lights operable and a fresh coat of Rust-Oleum on nearly all of it except for a small portion of the gate.
One hell of a deal for somebody looking for a small travel trailer or even, with a few additional touches, a mobile micro house!!
The external colors will appeal to University of Florida fans, UVA fans, Clemson fans, and whoever else is into blue orange and white!
