I purchased this 1998 FLEETWOOD EXPEDITION on July 11, 2011, with 8,912 miles on the odometer. The couple I purchased it from were older and did not used the vehicle frequently.
BULLET PROOF DRIVE TRAIN
StrongCUMMINS 12V 5.9L ISB Turbo Diesel engine. 12V is more desirable than the 24V ISB 5.9.
Great ALLISON 6 Speed Automatic Transmission
NO SLIDERS.
Levels Perfectly from inside the vehicle.
All the plumbing including water heater and water pump and shower work properly.
We had a wind damage to the passenger side awnings and door. The door was repaired and we paid about $10,000 over the awning replacement paid by the insurance company to get power awnings. The large awning that provides shade for most of the passenger side of the RV deploys and returns with the push of a button andretractsautomatically in higher winds.
Interior is in original excellent condition with wear consistent with low usage over the years.
The exterior paint has a lot of clear coat peeling and a few small flaws
NO ACCIDENTS - NO BODY DAMAGE FROM HITTING THINGS
I have owned it for 15 years and traveled almost 50,000 miles in it.
I have changed the oil and filter yearly with Rotella T6 full synthetic 5/40.
I have changed the fuel filters every two years.
My wife and I vacationed in it this summer and have gone cross county several times.
I changed the oil and filter this month and put three coats of sealant on the roof. I put a new cabin water pump in it this month as well. I changed all of the shock absorbers on the underneath bins this month.
I would get in it today and drive anywhere with no concerns.
Cummins ISV 12V is bullet proof and has no issues.
Allison 6 speed automatic runs perfectly.
This Class A diesel Motor Coach is 29 years old.
The paint is fading and clear coat is peeling.
The interior is very good condition.
The fridge works as does the freezer.
The Oneron Propane generator has only 63 hours and works perfectly.
The levelers work.
The air suspension is great
Most of the cabin blinds have been replaced.
No rips in the seats.
Bed is good.
Water pump, water heater, shower, sinks, faucets, drains, and entire plumbing system work great.
Like I said it’s ready to travel.
Things that are in need of repair
Paint
The cabin heater and AC sometimes make loud noises for a minute or so.
The AC and heater works fine in bedroom but doesn’t pipe to living area. It’s the same system so Maybe it’s the switch?
The dash AC just began blowing warm on our trip this month.
Not sure if it needs coolant or replacement.
Handles on fridge are hard to find for replacement. They work but are cracked.
Original blinds in the bedroom have bent bits. Others have been replaced
Carpet is stained from glue strips. Runners are on top of carpet.
I add fluid to the leveler system and the radiator every spring.
Overall it’s is ready to travel right now anywhere. It does need the types of things a truck of its age needs, but it runs great and overall it is in excellent condition for a vehicle of its age.
I would drive it cross country today.
