this 1977 Chevy Coachmen camper van needs just a little more work to be back on the road for summer fun! features custom restored interior with original fold-down benches, sliding pocket door to separate cargo hold from camper space, and full overhead sleeping area. The exterior is the original paint everywhere except the bottom panel all the way around, painted with bedliner for maximum protection. the seal between the fiberglass top and metal body had been leaking, is now sealed with rubberflex and leak-free. Previous owner put thousands into it and so have I. I have a stack of illegible hand-written receipts from a garage that does not answer the phone, soo I never found out exactly what was done! but the suspension, cooling system, tires, alternator and all belts, hoses, plugs, wires, cap, rotor, ignition coil all were done i the last 4 years.
The engine runs strong, trans shifts perfectly. it does burn some oil, engine restore treatment with every oil change helps a lot. I also add fuel stabilizer to the gas. The fuel pump may give you trouble if the tank gets low, have replacement to go with the van, but it only acted up once when i ran out of gas( which is how i found out that the gas gauge stopped working) no problems since. the principle mechanical repairs needed immediately are the rear brakes and exhaust. the rear brakes are completely removed! they need total replacement. also the passenger front brake rotor(have rotor, inner seal) needs changed-otherwise LF rotor, both calipers and all pads are new. the exhaust has been patched many times and got through MA inspection the past two years, but will need replacement soon. frame and body generally in superb condition! some holes were repaired in the floor of the rear cargo hold, as well as some minor bondo work on the bottom panels before painting. aside from a few drops getting through door and window seals, the van is leak-free now.
