Description:

Meet Shelly. She has served our family beautifully, including an epic cross country trip right before Covid with 13 year old twins, a goofy labradoodle and my wife and I. It has been a passion project, but as we get older, it has come time to let someone else make memories with her. We have never polished it, because we like the patina of the aluminum, and it already attracts enough attention everywhere it goes. It could certainly be polished to a mirror like finish at any time. With large propane tanks, solar and dual lithium batteries it is great for boon-docking, as well as very comfortable hooked up. Here are a list of features, updates, and modifications:
1964 was the only year this sought after model was made. it was also the year that Airstream made quarantine units for NASA. The aluminum used in 1964 was a higher grade due to this contract (according to the tour guide at the Airstream factory in Ohio).
We purchased it in 2016 off of Craigs list. Someone had started purchasing components to renovate, but when the project outlasted him, his son sold it and the components to us.
Our friend and master builder Bruce Rossman did the initial renovation replacing floor, re-plumbed with pex, cleaned up all electrical connections, re-ran much of the propane, and did all of the beautiful cabinet work. Essentially took a beautiful shell from 1964, and turned it into a beautiful modern home on the inside. Great attention to detail includes matching continuous grain in the oak cabinetry and the door,s hydraulic cabinet door struts, painted and sealed insides of all cabinetry, felt cabinet strips at all points of wood to wood contact (to avoid squeaking as wear), among many other thoughtful details.
A new Torsion axel installed at time of renovation, replacing what appeared to be the original from 1964. New tires in 2019.
New cushion covers were created, and later new cushions were created for comfort. It is a sandwich of 3" of very rigid foam, and 3" memory foam for additional comfort.
A new water tank was installed (19 gallons) from Vintage Trailer Supply. A Natures Head composting was installed, along with an extra liquid container. The extra space created by getting rid of the small black water tank created space for medicine shelving as well as significant storage shelves in the bathroom. Unlike the wet bath approach in the new models, the shower in this is completely separate from the toilet area.
There is a lo voltage charge station for devices, etc. in the overhead cabinet near the 12 volt television which is connected to the Stereo system. It will also play DVDs. Stereo system has bluetooth to listen to music from your devices.
There is a hot water on demand installed in place of the original 6 gallon water heater. We are including a second brand new water heater since the form factor of the water heater is specific to the build. The current heater shows no signs of age, but we ended up with an extra one due to Amazon.

Area over front bed can serve as either a "fabric shelf" to store things, or there is a canvas bunk that can sleep a small person over the top.
Dinette folds down to a single bed with no tools necessary.
keyless entry on door, as well as both external storage compartments.
Large plastic storage "safe" with combo lock mounted to rear bumper to increase storage of camping items.
There is a quick connect propane on the back to feed a Blackstone grill, as well as a mount on the back bumper for the grill.
Awning is a Zip Dee from Vintage Trailer Supply. It stores in the original awning case under the trailer.
There are 120 and 12v outlets on the outside front.
Dometic under counter fridge runs on shore power or propane. New as of 2019.
Dometic microwave/convection oven runs on shower power and works great.
Propane heating system runs off of a thermostat, and has been very reliable. It is the sound of comfort on a cold night.
Dometic air conditioner runs off of shore power and cools the entire space quickly.
Two very quiet marine grade 12 volt fans in addition to the exhaust fan above the shower.
All original windows and screens function properly, with some hardware replaced from Vintage Trailer Supply.
No leaks for our entire stewardship.
Small safe in storage under the bed.
4 drop down storage baskets.
